We Are Family has been providing support, resources, and leadership development opportunities to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex, (LGBTQI) and straight ally youth since 1995.

Drop-In Space

We Are Family offers “Drop-In Space” every Thursday from 3-6 PM at our location for youth 20 years of age and younger. Youth can come by and hang out in a cool LGBTQ+ affirming space after school under the supervision of WAF staff and trained volunteers.

YelpCon will beon Saturday, October 12th, 7-10 PM in Sterling Hall at Hyatt House Charleston/Historic District (560 King Street). This year will be bigger and yelpier! Last year, Yelp helped raise over $6,500 for We Are Family in just 3 hours!


- It's totally FREE! (although there is a $20+ suggested donation to We Are Family)

- There will be a costume contest, so bring your A-game!

- Come hungry (and thirsty) -- We'll be announcing food & drink vendors as we get closer to the event

- The entertainment will be off the charts, including a drag show & silent disco!

This FREE event is open to everyone & the only requirements are that you must have/create a Yelp account (Real name and profile photo too), be 21+, and you must RSVP.

Charleston Pride

Spirit Day is a means of speaking out against bullying towards LGBTQI+ youth. Wear purple on October 17th to demonstrate your solidarity with LGBTQI+ youth!

This year’s Spirit Day event, Bold Bodies and Connected Communities will be held on Thursday, October 17th, 2019 in Stern Ballroom (71 George St, 4th floor) from 5-7 PM in partnership with the College of Charleston's Women's and Gender Studies Department (WGS), Gender and Sexuality Equity Center (GSEC), Multicultural Student Programs and Services (MSPS), Prism, and Out Front Initiative. This event is FREE!
