Thursday, October 17, 2019, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
This year’s Spirit Day event, Bold Bodies and Connected Communities will be held on Thursday, October 17th, 2019 in Stern Ballroom (71 George St, 4th floor) from 5-7 PM in partnership with the College of Charleston's Women's and Gender Studies Department (WGS), Gender and Sexuality Equity Center (GSEC), Multicultural Student Programs and Services (MSPS), Prism, and Out Front Initiative.
Spirit Day is a means of speaking out against bullying towards LGBTQI+ youth. Wear purple on October 17th to demonstrate your solidarity with LGBTQI+ youth!
The Spirit Day event will feature a youth panel and fashion show performance from guest hosts, Preston Souza and Alex O'Hanley from the Phluid Project. The Phluid Project is a gender-free brand (androgynous, unisex, gender neutral) selling clothing, accessories, and beauty for the LGBTQIA+ community.
We will also be celebrating International Pronouns Day on October 16th with a tabling event in Cougar Mall from 10 AM-2 PM. International Pronouns Day seeks to make respecting, sharing, and educating about personal pronouns commonplace. Both We Are Family and the College of Charleston are listed as official endorsers of International Pronoun Day on the website.
